Can you tell me if this the correct spelling of Mergatroyd? What does "Heavens To Mergatroyd" mean?

The correct spelling is Murgatroyd. As far as I know, "heavens to Murgatroyd" means the same thing as Heavens to Betsy! and Other Curious Sayings-that is, very little. It's just an exclamation of surprise like "Goodness gracious!"
