Prophets of profit

Prophets of profit

Is this an idiom?

Thank you.

No. It's someone's play on words, a pun to be specific, referring to certain people with a connection to the financial or business world, perhaps financial journalists, perhaps economists on the conservative side, perhaps something else connected with the lust for profit.

To call someone a "prophet of profit" seems derisive and akin to calling them a snake-oil salesman. I would include penny stock hustlers along with certain financial journalists, but I wouldn't include "economists on the conservative side" in that category.
