When to use and when not to use 'Proffer'
Proffer seems synonymous with offer, and much like other words in the English dictionary, one is used over another simply for taste.
Is that about right?
Restrict "proffer" to the courtroom, and you'll be fine.
I used "proffer" the other day and I wasn't in a courtroom. I used it because I thought it sounded snotty. "If any of you want to proffer an opinion, now is the time to do it."
