"someones put a lot of hay down"
The midwest part of the US has provided a lot of colorful expressions. The close-to-the-earth agriculture background leads to some wonderful expressions. --- One of my favorites --- when it is obvious that someone has done a lot of preparation for an event or occasion it is said that "someone's put a lot of hay down".
Is this used anywhere else in the civilized world?I can't speak for the civilized world, but out here in California I've never heard that one, even though my parents came from the Midwest.
W.Va. and Kentucky -- I don't remember hearing that phrase. I'll ask some of my aggy buddies.
