I'm getting conflicting results on looking up the origin of this phrase.
It's not from the bible, though.

Could anyone point me to a good source, and the Oxford dictionary of proverbs does not count.

Please help...Any scholars out there?

On entering "eye window soul" into Google, I find this saying called an adage and a cliché, and I don't find any classic literary work cited as the source. It's likely a traditional saying whose exact origin is lost.
