"Souped Up"
.....as in adding hardware to a computer to make it run more efficiently.
Even back in my early sixties motor-head days the phrase was used to descibe a modified internal combustion engine.
Anybody know the origin?

It might have come from one of the meanings of "soup" in the Dict. of Amer. Slang: "Fuel used to power fast airplanes or cars; esp., a special fuel used only for powerful motors."
