Strike me Rone/Roan

I would like to know the origin of the expression: "Strike me Rone/Roan" please. There are plenty of articles and forums which show the words being used, but before there was television, this saying existed. Just wondered what a "rone/roan" was, hence the expression "Strike me rone!" My husband mutters it under his breath - at me - often.
