FOOD POUNDING
Does anyone know the origin of the food pounding and how it got the name?
A food pounding is when a bunch of people get together, especially say a church, and supply a needy family with a large amount of food and supplies.
Anyone know the answer to this?
Thanks
Sounds like a local colloquial.
In the movie "Cross Creek," based on the life of writer Margery Something Rawlings ("The Yearling"), there was a reference to a "pound party." The guests each brought a pound of some food item.
