: Can anyone help me with the meaning and if possible the origin of the phrase ;fat lady sings'

It's my understanding that the phrase was originated with San Antonio sports broadcaster Dan Cook during a television newscast in April of 19978. He was commenting about a game between the
Spurs and the Bullets and illustrating that while the Spurs had won once, the series was not over yet. Cook said his line was a takeoff on Yogi Berra's line. "The game isn't over 'til it's over," this story behind the saying is recorded in the Library
of Congress.
