Has anyone ever heard of the expression "where the devil shot the woodpecker" ? A friend used this recently and when I asked him about it he said he'd heard it from his mother (in the UP of Michigan) - it was used to mean something like "in the middle of nowhere". I wonder if anyone else if familiar with this one?
