Where is the phrase "Come back x, all is forgiven" first recorded? It's obviously a very fixed and widespread formula but I've never seen any research into it.

Substituting an asterisk for your x in Google and putting it all in quotation marks--"Come back * all is forgiven"--brings up tons of hits.
