Have you read any good books lately?

I was looking through my quote books to find an answer for the literature question asked here recently. Didn't find that but found this:

HAVE YOU READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY? -- "Catch-phrase used by Richard Murdoch in radio comedy series. Much-Binding-in-the-Marsh (started 2 Jan. 1947)" From "The Oxford Dictionary of Modern Quotations" by Tony Augarde (Oxford University Press, Oxford & New York, 1992) Page 216:1 This next reference says it was a BBC radio comedy series. ".Often used as a conversation opener, Murdoch popularized the phrase (and gave it a comic twist) as a means of changing the subject in a conversation, especially when he was unable to think of an answer to a question posed by co-star and co-writer Kenneth Horne." From "Oxford Dictionary of Catchphrases" by Anna Farkas (Oxford University Press, Oxford, New York, 2002). Page 119.
