Jacobs table

Does anyone know where the phrase Jacobs table came from as regards taking your own food to a party,thanks

I've looked in my regional slang dictionaries and I found a lot of Jacob phrases but not this one. I'm thinking it has to do with Jacob in the Bible.

Or it could mean: Jacob's table: Menus and recipes from the Pillow Cafe, favorite dishes of artists and audiences at the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival. You can order it from Amazon or your favorite bookstore. I hope that helps. Forget Jacob ben Asher.
