I am looking for the origins of the phrase 'thank ya mother for the rabbits'. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Eric Partridge's Dictionary of Catch Phrases: American and British, from the Sixteenth Century to the Present Day has an entry for "Thank your mother for the rabbit." Mr. Partridge suspects that it's Cockney street vendors' humor from the late 19th century.
