"Pick your poison"

Hi, We are wondering the origin of the the phrase, "Pick your poison". I am guessing it has something to do with Aristotle but others are guessing it is in reference to Henry VIII

I'll give it a search. The image I have is a bartender -- pick which poison (alcohol-wise) that you want to drink.

When I get an image of a bartender, he's saying, "Name your poison!" SS
