Had the radish

I heard the expression "had the radish" from a friend in Niantic, CT about 20 years ago. I have subsequently read on-line that the phase originated in Vermont. Apparently it means "done in" or somthing similar. I have not met anyone other than my friend in Niantic who used this phrase. Any enlightenment as to its origin, use or meaning?
