Keep plugging away

Looking for origin of phrase "keep plugging away".

In this context to 'plug' means to keep up the support for, or effort put into, a project. The term allegedly comes from Capt Plugge's continual playing of records on Radio Normandie in the early 1930s. He was a remarkable man. Much more about him at www.ibcstudio.co.uk
