: What does this phrase mean in the context of fashion? There has been a debate about this phrase on another forum I visit, but no one seems to have a clear understaning of it. Could someone help me out on this forum? What does it mean that someone's clothes are on the edge? That someone should wear clothes on the edge?

I am guessing that it comes from "cutting edge." From Merriam-Webster:

Main Entry: cutting edge
Function: noun
1 : a sharp effect or quality
2 : the foremost part or place : VANGUARD
