If ifs and ands were pots and pans

If ifs and ands were pots and pans. My mother's next line was "We'd be washing up for ever". Has anyone else heard this version?

That's a new one to me anyway. It has a nice rhythm to it. Another not yet mentioned in this forum: "If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas." I like that variation because "buts" are more on-target than "ands."
