Can someone please help me find the meaning of this quote
"If everyone demanded peace instead of another television set, then there'd be peace" John Lennon

It means if we demanded peace instead of demanding cheap gasoline for our SUVs, we would have peace. We say we want peace and an end to world hunger but our actions are all geared towards acquiring more and more worldly goods. The politicians act accordingly.
