In a pink fit

This morning I was talking to my big Yank, about something I wouldn't do in a pink fit.

Can anyone tell me the origins of the term 'pink fit'? Unless all it's referring to is the colour one's face may turn in the event of a fit. And even if that's so, does anyone know who first said it?

Oh - and while I'm at it, does anyone know how the term 'fit' came to mean 'seizure' in that context? eg. epileptic fit. A fit of the heebeejeebees, etc.
