Topping it on the knob

Supposedly a British expression; can't find it on Google. Sorry but don't know the context

If it is a British expression, it's new to me. The best I can do is that 'knob' is a colloquial (and vulgar) term here (UK) for the penis. I can only guess that the phrase is crude, but I would like to know what it means!
