Is there such an expression? Or something similar? Does it mean a warm and comforting feeling (psychologically)?

Yes. It's also referred to as "a warm fuzzy" as in "I'm not getting a warm fuzzy about this".

I think this may come from the transactional anaysis movement of the 70's. I think there are cold pricklies too.
