Pitch black, pitch perfect

I'd like to know the difference in the usage of *pitch* in word combinations like pitch black or pitch perfect.

The "pitch" in pitch black refers to tar, that black sticky stuff used to surface roads, while the "pitch" in perfect pitch refers to the musical notes of the scale.
