A s sholes and elbows

Is there an expression or it's derivative "you are as useless as an a**hole on an elbow" in the hick idiom?

If there is such an expression, what region in the country is more commonly used?

I belive the expression a**holes and elbows actually means a flurry of activity or intense effort to accomplish a task. Picture men digging a ditch and the foreman yelling, "I want to see nothing but a**holes and elbows until this ditch is dug!"
