Where'd that dog gone phrase come from.

DOGGONE - Perhaps from the Scotch "dagone," "gone to the dogs," or an alliteration of G*ddam, 1851. Doggoned, 1857. From I Hear America Talking: An Illustrated History of American Words and Phrases by Stuart Berg Flexner (Von Nostrand Reinhold Co., New York, 1976).
