"Props to____"

Posted by Kiwi on January 16, 2004

my friends and I use the phrase "PROPS TO *so-and-so* for ...." to commend someone for doing something, or give them credit for some unexpected achievement. None of us really know where it came from, though... or if we use it correctly. (small town, doesn't really matter much, but we're just curious)
Any insight regarding the meaning/origin??
thanx
