Lord love a duck
Lord love a duck. Anyone know where this quote originated?
Origin? I don't know, but it was very common in the London East End of my boyhood in the 1930s. A dictionary of rhyming slang may give a clue.
A link to an on-line dictionary is below, but it doesn't mention 'luv a duckl'.
'Duck' has been a term for a lover, sweet heart since the 16C. I guess this is a likely origin.
