: Oh, this brings back that old nostalgia. I remember "lookit" from childhood. Children used to say it. I thought of it as a single (slang) word. I think it stood for "look at," as in "Look at the mouse on Mrs. Johnson's hat!"

: I guess I'm just not as offended as you are. Cheer up, maybe the next person will be.

Now I remember that phrase -- "look it." I can't remember if I heard it in W.Va. or on my travels. It meant "Now see here." Or "Listen."
