Hollow leg

: When we were young and foolish, a test of masculinity was the amount of booze (of any kind) one could consume. The expression we used to praise an individual was that he (or she) drank like they had a wooden leg. The theory was, I guesss, that the wooden leg would fill up with the booze and the person could keep drinking. I've not heard that expression in a long time, and wonder if it's still in use..... and perhaps what the origin of it might have been.

I've heard "hollow leg."
