Crocodiles

Nice to be here again. I have a sentence:
" ... it seemed ages ago that his mum had cut his hair, and his *crocodiles* were growing out already."

dear friends, do you have any clue to what "crocodiles" might mean?

when amatuers cut hair, they often do it badly leaving an uneven result. a crocodile has a serrated profile of sticky-out bits, to which a person might compare badly cut hair.
