Who said "If man were meant to fly, he would have been born with wings" ?

I don't know, but Brian Clough said that if God intended football to be played in the air, he would have planted grass on the clouds.

One of my all-time favorite cartoons from The New Yorker (c. 1955) was a matronly airline passenger refusing a cocktail offered by the cabin attendant, saying "I don't believe God intended us to drink while flying."
