Where does the word...X-Nay come from?

I am guessing it has something to do with
Yea/Nay and hte senate.

Does anyone have more info?

"Ix-nay" would be pig Lat*n for "nix."

Mind if I ask why you guys used the asterisk in the middle of a certain word?
