Persian flaw

Posted by Sharon on April 25, 2003

I recently heard the phrase 'Persian flaw' in a program and am unable to discover its meaning or implications. I am sure it refers in some way to the Greek classic period but I have seen the phrase used in a way to indicate an inherent flaw in a character or situation. I'd like to know exactly what a 'Persian flaw' means and where it comes from. Is it the attack that puts 'all of ones eggs in one basket' or the character flaw that is 'sins of the fathers handed to the sons'?

After all, today's Iraq is ancient Persia. Does the phrase 'Persian flaw' fit modern times?
