Dodging the (silver) bullet

What does this mean?

Well, "dodging a bullet" means having a narrow escape from something. A silver bullet is used to kill werewolves. I've never heard the phrase "dodging the silver bullet." But I don't get out much. I'll check my reference books and see if there is something specific about this phrase.
