"Milk in the Coconut"

Any idea as to the meaning and origin of the phrase "milk in the coconut"? I think it might be similar to "proof in the pudding" but I can't be sure.

Milk in the coconut, The. A puzzling fact; a mystery. The contents of the coconut are not known until it is cracked open. The expression is of American origin.
