: I often use the term "quick off the mark" when i'm describing my use of wittiscims. is this a correct usage of the term, or is it only used when dealing with sports, as a friend of mine has said?

: Here in the U.S., "quick off the mark" is also used synonymously with "quick on the uptake," "sharp as a tack," etc. In other words, you "get it" without the need of explanation. It is no longer used solely when referring to being a fast starter in an athletic competition, if that helps.
