"every woman's first husband"
I remember reading a phrase in a published article about President George Bush, Sr. The article likened him to "every woman's first husband". I chuckled at the phrase at the time, but now and again it has retrned to my memory and I wondered what the writer might have had in mind. Any guesses? Thank you.
EuniceThe man they love to leave?
I think it implies that he's annoying and perhaps that it is slightly painful to think you had anything to do with him in the first place.
I thought Al Gore was everyone's first husband. Maybe they revised the phrase. I'm not sure what it meant -- boring, staid?
