When I was young my mother used to say to me when I would ask her why ? "Cats for to make kittens britches"
any one know or have ever heard this expression before..

I have heard it but as this way:
"Cats fur to make kittens britches"

I always thought it was just a bunch of nonsense my mother's nutty friend used to say among other weirdnesses.
