My dear friends what's the meaning of "Everyone's business is nobody's business."

My take is that nobody should pry into *everyone's* affairs. Just mind your own and those of a few close friends/relations around you.

My understanding is different. If everybody, as opposed to a specified individual, has responsibility for ensuring something is done, then it doesn't get done.
