: I heard this term used in the Western North Carolina Mountains in a place called Bens Cove West of Asheville It refers to spring water. As in water that runs over a salamanders back. Has anyone heard this in other parts of the U.S.

"Water off a ducks back" is a common enough expression but to have an expression tied so firmley to a place like Bens Cove would make that expression unique I should think - probably never ever been used anywhere else.
