GO TO WORK ON AN EGG

Anthony Shaffer, who died last week, was responsible for the advertising slogan 'Go to work on an egg'. My mother lived in the same street and worked with him in the sixties.

I had thought that this was coined by Fay Weldon and has been widely ascribed to her. She has recently said that she didn't write it herself but just picked it up and used it in the advertising campaign that made it well known (in the UK at least).
