could anyone tell me who wrote
thank heavens the sun has gone in and I dont need to go out and enjoy it.
My thanks to anyone who can give this information as it is for my mother, who needs the answer for a quiz.

That would be Logan Pearsall Smith (1865-1946). I found it in John Barlett's "Familiar Quotations."
