: My old nan used the above phrase a lot when she was cross or "flummoxed" (confused) by something - I think "good Gawd Nighlanders" meant "good God!".

: Another one of her "swearing-without-swearing" sayings was "blamn and dast!" - I'll let you work out what that one was....

Damn and blast! remains reasonably popular. At least with me. I don't think it is popular enough to make any headway as a Spoonerism, however.
