Country Mile

Can anyone tell me what "a farmer's mile" is?

Well, a "country mile" means a long way. Probably because of the winding, bad roads. But I've never heard of a farmer's mile.

It comes from rural folk giving directions - a country mile is usually much longer than a measured one - "You turn 'ere & go back a mile..."

It's often known as a 'Welsh mile' in Britain, for the same reason as 'country mile'I've also never heard the 'farmer's' version.
