On Valentine's Night...

Somewhere on my journeyings throughout the UK I picked up the phrase "On Valentine's Night there is no need to put up the light", i.e. there is enough natural light to eat your tea with out the need for artificial light. I have never met anyone else who has heard of this saying.
Can you help please?
