On the good side

"Get on the bad side" - what`s this one supposed to mean?

If you get on someone's bad side, you've done something to annoy, anger or displease the person. It's kind of like the Merle Haggard song "The Fightin' Side of Me."

There's also a good side. "You just want to get on my good side," is a way of saying, "You're just trying to butter me up." Or, "He got on my good side by promising to take my little sister to the dance. I certainly wouldn't take her."

Obviously, events, suggestions, other inanimate things can have a good side and a bad side. I assume you were talking about humans' bad side.
