My Maw Maw

Wondering if anyone else has heard this phrase. 'My Maw Maw' described a bird bath as start at your head and wash down as far as possible and then at your feet and wash up as far as possible and then wash possible. Wanting to know if it was just something handed down just in her family or if it was a well known saying.
