"and the something got it"

I was delighted to find that you had explained the phrase "layover to catch meddlers" since I grew up hearing it from my Texas grandmother. My husband's grandmother (a life-long resident of SC) used it and she had a stock reply to the question--something on the order of "and the something got it." Unfortunately, no one in her family remembers the reply. Has anyone else run across this? Thank You.
