Hobos/ boomers/rounders
Posted by SR on October 14, 2004
The railroad has contributed some interesting phrases describing the vagrant, wandering gypsy soul to our language. Cross-tie walkers/flat car riders are two of my favourites.
I'm sure other countries have equally interesting terms such as swagman, swaggie, tinker, rover etc.
Again, many thanks, and any and all input would be greatly appreciated.
